The 3rd ENRICH training workshop “Project & Intellectual Property Management" has been hosted by MZUMBE University in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 6th and 7th October 2015. This workshop has been co-organised by MZUMBE University and the University of Alicante (UA), coordinator of the ENRICH project.
The objective of this 3rd workshop was to introduce successful Project Management and provide an introduction to Intellectual Property Rights covering dissemination/publication issues, licensing agreements and patent strategy in R&D projects.
The workshop has provided good practice examples and stimulate discussions around the following main topics:
- Techniques and tools for process improvement: Six-sigma
- Management of EU funded Projects
- Intellectual Property: a tool for protecting innovation in Universities
- Introduction to IPRs
- Patent protection for Innovation
- Publication, exploitation and other practical issues
The workshop has been attended by more than 25 people: representatives from the ENRICH Higher Education Institution (HEI) partners from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, as well as representatives from the Directorate of Research Management and Development (DRMD) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kenya, the Tanzanian Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) and Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST).
Participants (top management and researchers, particularly in the energy field) will be involved in the establishment of three Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Support National Networks, one in each partner country (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) and will adapt the training content to local context so they can replicate the training received within their universities.
The workshop was disseminated by the local newspapers: The Citizen, Daily News and AllAfrica.
